Plymouth City Council closed both Efford and Weston Mill crematoria in 2024 and opened a brand new one at the Park. There are a number of crematoria in our area – facilities vary but here are some of them and their contact details.

Just as there are several crematoria, there are many more cemeteries and churchyards. Some still permit burials, while others no longer do. Below are a selection of these sites along with their contact details.

Natural burial grounds, woodland burials, green burials
As well as traditional religious burials in a churchyard or cemetery, we can arrange for other burials. Woodland, green and natural burials are increasingly popular and there are a growing number of sites coming into use in Cornwall and Devon.

Natural burial, as it is often referred to, is a very varied world. But some burial grounds sign up to a Code of Conduct with places like the Association of Natural Burial Grounds or The Natural Death Centre, which provides guidance on sustainability and ecology.

Because of the way that natural burial sites are run, some may be more difficult to access than others. We would always recommend visiting any sites before making a final decision.

Tamar Valley crematorium - Plymouth's second new crematorium due to open in September 2025
With the closure of both Efford and Weston Mill crematoria in Plymouth in 2024, building has begun on Plymouth’s second new crematorium, called Tamar Valley Crematorium. It will be situated in the North of Plymouth.
